UK2000 SCENERY LONDON AIRPORTS
FOR FS2000
& FS2002
London Airports is a
collection of the 5 airports in the London area, which are Heathrow,
Stansted, Gatwick, Luton and London City. This Scenery represents the
finest Flight Sim scenery you will ever find for these airports.
Just take a look at these features:
- All buildings accurately modelled and textured
- Taxiway centreline
- All the Stands and Ai r gates!
- Timed departure board!
- Timed Stop Bars
- Passengers gathering prior to the departure time!
- Taxiway/stand markings that are realistic
- BRITISH runway markings
- Very detailed holding points with timed holds (Wig
Wags)
- Aircraft guidance boards
- Night lighting affects and transparent terminal
glass
- Internal details
- Perimeter fencing & trees
- Static Aircraft
- Dynamic objects
- FS Traffic tracks for ALL 5 Airports
Every effort has been made to model
as much as possible, of cause not every building can be modeled or
else your simulator work stops moving! But I believe you will find
this compromise between detail and frame rate speed ideal. Every stand
has been included (expect some double parking stands at Heathrow)

The self-installing EXE program is
the simplest installation procedure I’ve made to date. This program
will search and find your FS2000 folder and install into your scenery
config file. The uninstall also works (not that you would need to
uninstall!).
Even my dad can understand this (And
believe me that’s saying something!)
| Aircraft
crossing Gates |
Changing
Static |
| As many of you may know a public
road crosses the eastern end of the airfield leading to the BA
Maintenance area. Across this road are two gate which will open
up to let the aircraft cross the road. This function is
duplicated in the scenery, but does depend on you using a
COCKPIT view point. |
Not only do you see hundreds of
static aircraft, theses aircraft will 'shuffle' there locations
depending on what day your flying!. |
NOTE: All London
Airport customers are entitled to a FREE! update of this scenery to
insure it’s works with FS2002 when it’s released later this year.

Docking
Distance board |
|
This
board is used to inform the pilot at which point to stop the
aircraft. Trying to implement this into FS2000 is 90%
successful. The biggest problem is that some designer make
aircraft models that have the cockpit view on the nose of the
plane! The docking system relies on the cockpit view point to
tell the pilot when to stop. If you have an aircraft which has a
badly aligned cockpit view, you need to stop latter than the
board displays.
The Docking board itself if
pretty self explanatory, the boards can be identified by its
flashing green lights. If the board does not flash then its
probable because the airgate is in the docked position. Due to
the nature of flight simulation, it gets harder to see the board
as you get closer, what you should do is switch to wide angle
view (press the 'W'). There is one other issue that affects the
docking. Due a bug in FS2000 when you first load up your
aircraft your view is in the middle of plane!. This of cause
makes the docking useless. To get around this you MUST look out
of any side window when you load an aircraft. By doing this the
bug goes and you are in the cockpit again. |
|
Catering
Trucks |

At all the airports( expect City) you will
find interactive Catering trucks!. 1 Min after the airgate has
moved in the truck will move towards your aircraft, 1min latter
the ramp will lift, 3mins prior to departure the ramp goes down
and 2min from departure the truck backup |
|
AirStairs |

At Luton airport on Stands 6,1R and 44 you will
have moving airstair these stair will dock with your plane at
the same time as the Catering trucks moves in, the stair will
then move away 3 min prior to departure(Parking it set at
13mins, I little quick for real 'turnaround' but hey this is
simulation and I we dont want to wait that long. |
|
Azimuth
Guide |

This can be found at all the active gates and
is simple red/green indicator to help keep your aircraft lined
up with the centre of the parking bay. Again it only come on
when the airgate is in the 'out' position. |
|
AirGates |

The actual airgate are programmed to dock with
your aircraft when the docking board displays 'STOP'. There is a
10-30 second delay between the STOP and the gate moving. The
airgates will adjust its height, depth and length to suit your
aircrafts type. The gates will then swing back out when the
departure board says it's time to leave. However this process
can be speeded up by switching on MAP view and zooming in. This
make the departure read 1min to go. NOTE: IT TAKES 1MIN BEFORE
THE GATE RESETS TO ALLOW YOU TO RE-DOCK
At Luton there are no Gates, but the same
timers exist so the Catering truck and Airstair use the same
timing sequence. |
|
Departure
Board |
|
Another
gadget is the departure board. After you have docked the
guidance system should turn off and then the mins to departure
lights up informing you how long you have to wait until the
planes ready to leave. This is random between 12-9mins, However
this process can be speeded up by switching on MAP view and
zooming in. This make the departure read 1min to go.NOTE: IT
TAKES 1MIN BEFORE THE GATE RESET TO ALLOW YOU TO RE-DOCK
|
|
Stop bars at
the Holding points |

You will notice a lot holding points in the
scenery, Some also have line of lights across the hold.
Sometimes these light will be RED and sometime GREEN. No prizes
for guessing that you need to stop when there RED. |
|
Runway Lead
off lights |
|
At
night you will notice some alternating green/yellow taxi lights,
these are there to show which exit you take.
|
|
Gathering Passengers |
|

During the waiting period when the departure
board is counting down ,you may see the passengers gather inside
the 'Europier' waiting for the departure, and 2 mins prior to
departure the passengers disappear to board your plane! Of cause
this process takes longer in reality, but I dont think many FS
Users really want to wait a hour before taking off!.
