To install GaugeDump, simply double click on the downloaded file (GD20.EXE) and specify the location to extract the GaugeDump files to. To start the program after installation, simply find the folder you chose in the above step and double-click the GaugeDump program (GaugeDump.exe). GaugeDump 2.0 is a Win32 shareware program designed to aid gauge developers for Flight Simulator 2000. 

GaugeDump takes an existing gauge file for Flight Simulator 2000 and creates a complete "C" project (excluding makefile) with various source files and extracts all the bitmaps contained within the gauge. With the output from GaugeDump, a panel developer can examine the drawing elements of the gauge, see the bitmaps, and have an excellent starting point for creating a new gauge based on the dumped information. GaugeDump finds and places the following items into the source files:  

  • Drawing elements ( static image, needle, string, slider, icon, sprite, and moving image )
  • Failure records 
  • Non-linearity tables 
  • Sequence records 
  • Mouse rect records 
  • Function prototypes 

What's New in Version 2.0 

  • Support for Flight Simulator 2000 gauges. This gauge format can contain multiple
    gauges in one gauge file. GaugeDump can extract all the gauges in the file.
  • More complete source project. GaugeDump now creates an entire "C" project including the .c source file, .h header file, and the .rc resource script. The files can be compiled immediately after dumping the gauge. 
  • New gauge info dialog that gives information about a gauge file such as the number of gauges contained within, the element types within each gauge, a list of bitmaps for each gauge and even a bitmap preview of any bitmap for any gauge in the file. 
  • Extracts high-res and low-res bitmaps. The FS2000 gauge format allows for two sets of bitmaps for each gauge. GaugeDump extracts all the bitmaps for each gauge.
