FsXfer/FsServer/FsClient 2.0
by Flyware
Creates your custom multi-panel
FS98 cockpit using only PC's and joysticks (or similar custom
controls)
What can you do with FsXfer?
FsXfer makes it possible to create your own FS98 cockpit, depending as
little as possible on your FS PC.
FsXfer can connect multiple PC's to one FS pc, and
display custom panel gauges (non-FS) on each monitor. These PC's can
in turn send their joystick data to FS, for any analog or button
control you wish to add.
The program is based on communication with FS98 to
get all the parameters, which are used as input for the instrument
displays.
Compatibility
FsXfer connects to FS98 using FSUIPC.DLL only (no earlier versions
of IPC are supported anymore).
The use of FS2000
is not advised in this version (please wait for the next) .
You do not need to use additional hardware to connect controls.
Neither do you need state-of-the-art PC's or need to run multiple
copies of FS. Fast connection to FS98, the FS PC stays as clean as
possible (no dropping frame rates) and all of the add-on cockpit
workload goes to the server and client PC's involved. Of course you
still can keep using other FS add-ons.
What's new in this version ?
1. A few gauges have been added: HSI, and a
Trim position indicator.
2. DME is available for both Nav1 and Nav2
3. FsXfer is a lot faster - the communication with FS is improved. As
a result, stick effects are faster as well.
4. The panel size and positions are saved on exit, so that you can use
multiple monitors on one PC and keep the gauges on the monitor of your
choice.
5. FsServer and FsClient are much smaller files.
6. Customizing of a few gauges is improved,
7. FsServer/FsClient now support 8-button joystick, like the ones with
a coolie hat and 4 buttons. Of course you can rewire a panel just like
your stick to get 8 custom buttons. If you wish to use fixed position
switches, only 4 of them are supported.
Shortly, 15 buttons will be supported.
8. Some stick assignments have been added: Engine Anti-Ice (does work
with jet and prop), if you wish separate for each engine, DME select,
HSI bug set, HSI VOR source set, Altimeter set (analog as well).
9. We have dropped the ADF database and read nav information always
from Fs.
10. We solved a few minor bugs
11. Limitations on licensing have been minimized.
Licensing
There is a time limitation in the downloaded
(unlicensed) version.
You can connect for a maximum of 15 minutes. After
this, FsXfer/FsServer/FsClient will shut down. This will allow you to
do all you need to see if the program gives you what you want.
If you buy a license, you will get support and necessary updates.
There are two types of license:
1. FsXfer/FsServer only.
This means you can connect 1 PC, running the
FsServer program. You get one license number.
2. The above, but including FsClient as well. You can connect more
PC's, each running FsClient. In this case, you get one separate
license number for all your FsClients.
Installation
Three separate zip files are available for download: FsXfer20.zip,
FsSrv20.zip and FsClt20.zip. For single panel, you will need only
FsXfer and FsServer. For more panels, you will need FsClient as well.
Next to your FS PC, you need one server PC (P200 or
so) and some client PC (P100 or even 486). You need a TCP/IP network -
this is very simple, full documentation included. For more info, visit

Put the gauges where they belong, the monitors
neatly hidden behind a panel with holes in it at the appropriate
places.
Switches, buttons, analogs, everything is possible.
What else can you do
- Select a number of gauges on each connected PC
- Assign a number of functions for each joystick port on each
connected PC (the assignments lists are growing)
- Assign even non-FS available functions, like throttles with reverse,
or swap nav/com frequency.
- Reset all joysticks with one button
